FISHING: Excellent
BIG FISH!!! BIG meaning 5-15lbs!!!! Backing on your reel ... you will need it with these fish. Large Arbor reels...These fish are why you own those reels. Listening skills...If you want to have a chance to land these monster Cranebows, you will need to be willing to take direction. HUGE SATISTFACTION...when you have landed and released a Trophy Fish from public waters, that 90+% of the fishing world will never hook or land, it feels great. Patience and Determination...without these, Don't fish here.
PLEASE PROTECT CRANE'S RAINBOWS BY PRACTICING CATCH AND RELEASE!!! With the warm water, Don't keep the fish out of the water too long and Take plenty of time (5-15 min) to revive the fish before releasing them. Make sure the fish is strong enough to swim off with strength.

FISHING: Great
The Weather has turned Hot and the fishing isn't far behind. The Callibaetis are hatching and the fish are taking notice. Be prepared with all your different callibaetis fly patterns whether you want to fish underneath or on top. Don't just think callibaetis are the only thing one should be fishing. Lots of streamer patterns are effective right now.
The Kokanee have been on a feeding rampage. If your not catching 30-50+ Kokanee an outing and you want too, you need to get out on a trip with us. Its down right silly how hungry those fish are!!!
Be prepared for a Big Brown trout to enhale your offering at any given moment. We have landed several nice Big Browns in the last week. Get out there and take advantage of Central Oregon's tremendous fishing!!!

LORD,
Thank you for CENTRAL OREGON FISHING!!!! We are truly blessed to live in such a fisherman's paradise. AMEN
BIG FISH, Little Fish, Lots of Fish, Rainbows, Browns, Brookies, Bass, Casting, Stripping, Dry Fly, Streamer...Dang the list goes on and on and on!!!
The weather is almost pretending to be summer like and the fish are loving it. Pick a lake, pick a river...just don't sit there and pick your nose!! Get out and fish!! Depending on what your after and how you choose to pursue them, the fishing is dawg gone good.
I could fill pages with this report about places to be fishing right now but that would take up too much of your valuable fishing time so suffice it to say: Choose what you want to go after and get out there!!!!! We have been fishing nearly every day for the last month or two and we have yet to be disappointed. Enjoy the summer and its fishing because won't last forever.

Believe it!!! We have been landing the almighty Crane Rainbows now for more than a week. Needless to say, its an extremely encouraging sign to be catching 12-17 inch Rainbows at Crane this early in the season.
All the Rainbows at Crane need is a fighting chance to survive. Last years introduction of larger size stockings is already paying large dividends. Crane is simply a year or two away from possibly being an exceptional Rainbow Trout fishery again, with numbers of Rainbows in the single digit pound range. The Rainbows just need a chance to get past being Bass food or winding up in somebodys freezer!!! Its really a tragedy that the Rainbow Trout aren't more protected when they are living in such a dangerous environment!! I am doing all I can to educate and inform the powers that be about Crane's situation. It is in their hands to restore Crane back to a magnificent Trout fishery.
It is too early yet to make any predicitons on how many of last years 8 to the pound fish are surviving. One thing that can be determined now is the Trout have ample food supply to grow, and grow fast, if they can escape being eaten by fish, bird or man.
Please be part of the solution to Crane's restoration and help its Rainbows by practicing Catch and Release on all of its wonderful Rainbow Trout!!!!

When your out on the water nearly every day, you're given the opportunities to experience nearly everything...the last few days have been no exception. I hate sounding like a reoccurring dream, but the weather continues to play the most important factor right now in our lake fishing.
Its been unusually cold the last few days. Yesterday, I was able to introduce Riley Cranston from Pronghorn Adventures to some of the wide open fishing that we are experiencing. Needless to say, Riley is a sold believer now and is looking forward to spending much more time on our Central Oregon lakes. The only drawback was we were fishing at times in a near whiteout!!! It helps when your hooking fish nearly every other cast to forget about the sideways snow pellet torture.
My faith remains high that the 10day forcast is predicting a return to high 60s-low 70s weather again by weeks end. The fish are hungry and eating. The fishing is fantastic now we just need the weather to cooperate!!!

A ton depends on the weather!! This weird cold-warm-cold-warm spring has the fishing following the same pattern. The main two culprits contributing to days when its tough fishing are thunderclouds/lightening and heavy winds. Your not the brightest bulb in the bunch if you continuning waving a 10ft stick of graphite in the air as lightening can be seen crashing down. Fear not, the 10day forecast seems to suggest better days ahead.
On the good weather days, the fishing can be absolutely fantastic. Browns, Rainbows, Brooks, Atlantics and Kokanee are all feeding. The callibaetis are hatching on many of the lakes and providing great dry fly action during their hatch. The last few days we have been fishing the drys during the hatch and sore mouthing more than our fair share. The nice gentlemen from yesterday donated some quality BLING BLING to a good number of now hipper fish.
The Bass are very near getting fired up to go on an eating explosion. I can't wait!!

Dear Lord,
Your are so good to us!! Maybe too good sometimes. Thanks for changing the weather. You definitely know how to get my attention. I asked for warm weather and within a week, you brought record breaking warm temps in the 80s. Please help me keep my promise to you. I will do my best with your help to show your LOVE to others, even the ones that aren't very nice!!
Trout fishing is going ballistic at times on the lakes. On any given day, when the bug activity gets going, the trout are trying to jump into the boat. Callibaetis are usually the culprits for getting the feeding frenzys going. If your tossing the fly, bring all the forms of your favorite Callibaetis patterns--nymphs, emergers and drys. If you like the takes from stripping, use your soft hackles or buggers. At times, the fishing is muy muy BUENO!!!
Mr. and Mrs. BASS have hung the DO NOT DISTURB sign on their bedroom door. They don't all occupy the bedroom at the same time so there are some left to still entice before they get preoccupied as well. Soon as they come out of that bedroom, they are gonna be REAL HUNGRY after all that playing. Your gonna wanna be there for that!!

Dear Lord,
We promise to be good and love one another. PS. Can you please stop the wet snow/hail/sleet/rain weather!! Amen.
Wet weather or not, Here we come. The fishing has been darn near on fire. On a 1-10 scale, mostly in the steady 7 range. If your willing to brave the elements, you have the chance to experience some terrific action. If thats hard to believe, just ask our clients from the last few weeks. The beauty of Spring fishing in Central Oregon is Fair weather fisherman won't be out which equals lots of space for those dedicated fisherman that are fishing. The Fishing is great and we've been out there!!!!
The Browns, Brooks, Rainbows and Atlantics are striking the fly or lure with vengance lately. As the water continues to warm, that will only continue. Mr and Mrs. Bass have been enhaling the fly lately with some vigor as well.
Highly Recommended:
Jim, the owner of East Lake Resort, has a terrific Beef Vegetable soup that hits the spot when you need to get out of the wind/cold/snow for a bit. Let him know I recommended that soup to you, you won't be disappointed!!

FISHING OR CATCHING?? Awe, the two actions are very similar yet yield quite different results. If we always CAUGHT BIG FISH on every cast, it would be justifiable to call it catching. Unfortunately, such is not the case. But Fear not, Fish are there to be caught and BIG ones at that.
This cool weather has the fish in good moods some days and bad moods other days. The lakes with the colder water are gonna require you are really on top of some fish before your likely to have any success actually catching them. So, if your fishing those lakes, DON'T fall in love with the spot your fishing if your not getting BIT!!!
The Brookies don't mind the cooler water and we have been getting them to cooperate nicely. The Atlantics too will spare no expense to chase down your offering if you get it near them. Alas, the Browns too will eat if you can locate them.
Mr. and Mrs. Bass are just starting to wake up and get interested in Engulfing anything they can find before they get together and get busy for a few weeks. Somedays are better than others but if your interested in hooking into LUNKER BASS, Get out there!!! We have been!!!
